Will McInerney
Executive Director
Will has been working with Sac Poe since 2008 and currently manages the organization’s overall capacity and development as the Executive Director. Will is an award-winning spoken word poet, a published author, and a youth educator who has taught from his hometown of Chapel Hill, NC to the Palestinian West Bank. Will loves coffee of all kinds and can be found most days working away at a café.


Kane Smego
Artistic Director
Kane “Novakane” is a National Poetry Slam finalist, Southern Fried Poetry Slam Champion, touring artist, and the Artistic Director of SacPoe. Kane has taught workshops and performed all over the country, featuring at such historic venues as the Nuyorican Poets Café in NYC, the 2010 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, and the birth place of Slam Poetry, Chicago’s Green Mill.


CJ Suitt
Youth Outreach Director
CJ is a poet and facilitator from Chapel Hill, NC working to elevate youth through spoken word poetry. CJ believes in the power of the spoken and written word, song and hip-hop to empower and transform and young people’s lives and also its ability to be an outlet for youth globally, who may not be heard in their day to day interactions.


Samathryn Witham
Development Director
Samathryn has worked in the field of education for the past 10 years, tutoring and teaching English, mentoring first-generation college students, coaching preservice teachers, working in education philanthropy and facilitating arts-based outof-school programming. With degrees in African American Studies, English and Education, and a Certificate in Non-Profit Management from Duke University, she has dedicated her career to creative inquiry and meaningful engagement through elevating the voices of the underserved and under-appreciated.


Starr Seward
Teaching Artist
Starr Seward is a National Poetry Slam Champion (2008), Southern Fried Poetry Slam Finalist (2008), and currently ranked amongst the top 20 female performance poets in the world (WoWPS 2013). As a facilitator for Sacrificial Poets her mission is to guide the youth toward inspiration by showing them the power of their own voice and instilling them with the confidence to use it.


Amber Pritchard
Outreach intern
Amber is currently an undergraduate at UNC Chapel Hill where she is majoring in Political Science and English and on the pre-law track. Amber is working with SacPoe through a community service initiative at UNC called the Bonner Leaders Program. Amber has competed in Poetry Out Loud competitions and written several spoken word pieces inspired by great poets such as Andrea Gibson, Shakespeare, and Emily Dickinson.
